Poet Kate Fox will post a poem here daily during her run at the 2010 Edinburgh Fringe Festival. She’ll include her daily news poem in her show Kate Fox News, at the Gilded Balloon, 12.15-1.15 pm, 4-30 August (except 16th).

It will provide a rolling alternative commentary on the month’s news. Please feel free to add your own via the comments function.

Some of the first poems here are examples, or part of the snapshot of National Write Poems About The Bews Day in 24th June 2009.

The project originally started as part of a special commission by the Humber Mouth Literary Festival. There’s now a Facebook group “Write poems about the news” too.

Kate Fox, Poet in Residence on Radio 4, stand up comedian and Northerner is interested in poetry inspired by the news, as a former radio journalist herself.

She’s fascinated by what other people are writing about it too.

Contribute, enjoy, shift media power a bit.
